HFHC Leadership
Mariah Curtis, RN
Chief Executive Officer
Mariah has a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Maine at Machias, an Associates of Science in Emergency Medicine from Eastern Maine Community College and an Associates of Science in Nursing from Beal College. Mariah has always been interested in healthcare, starting off as a CNA after high school. She completed a pre-med undergraduate degree with plans of pursuing further studies in medicine. After gaining experience as an EMT, she was drawn into nursing. While working as an emergency department nurse she felt she had a limited ability to impact the health and wellness of our community. Mariah then transitioned into outpatient care and climbed the ladder from RN Care Manager to COO and now to CEO. She is passionate about providing accessible, patient centered care. Mariah also has a passion for disease prevention, and management to reduce emergency department utilization and hospitalizations.
Sydney Bebus, MPH, RN
Chief Operating Officer
Sydney graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2022 and started working as an outpatient nurse. Her time spent in outpatient nursing in rural Maine highlighted the specific challenges rural healthcare faces. This helped guide her back to the University of Southern Maine to complete a Master’s in Public Health and a graduate certificate of Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety in 2025. Driven deep by a commitment to health equity, Sydney is passionate about advancing public health in rural communities. She advocates for accessible healthcare, innovative solutions and community-based initiatives that bridge the gap in medical resources. Through research, outreach and policy engagement, Sydney works to ensure that geography is never a barrier to quality care.
